ADDA Asansol Landscaping Green City Mission by Architect ArcOn Design, Kolkata
ArcOn Design was given the responsibility to redesign the dusty highway off Durgapur Expressway connecting NH-2 at Jubilee Dhaba to Scob Gate at Asansol by ADDA.
The design solves a lot of Urban design issues and environmental alongside overall greening as per norms of Green City Mission by Govt. of West Bengal.
We believed Roadside Beautification can be thoughtful too and can be an instrument to create a positive environmental impact with micro and macro level urban design intervention
Asansol is a City with a harsh climate and, being in the heart of the industrial zone, is full of dust and pollution.
Under GCM guidelines we tried not only to beautify superficially, but made provision for the micro-urban forest to abet pollution, reduce dust particles, yet create visual harmony with low maintenance horticulture, yet a community engaging sociopetal design that invites people to use the public realm properly.
Proposed barrier-free experience for all, water kiosks and inbuilt (abuse proof) urban furniture, bicycle tracks and a few more points of interest to engage citizen of all age and taste.
Hope it is executed well enough for the city to get the true benefit of the design.
